HEALTHCARE FOR RURAL POOR

At Rural Health Care Foundation (RHCF), we are focused on providing high quality primary care in low cost to the poor and underprivileged communities in West Bengal.

Our 10 out-patient healthcare centres, with General Medicine, Optometry, Dentistry and Homeopathy departments and a pharmacy with about 150+ kinds of generic medicines, make primary medical care accessible, affordable and available to the rural and urban under-served communities across the state.

We provide our patients with low-cost medical consultation 1-week supply of medications for free. We also provide subsidized spectacles. Cataract and pterygium surgeries are also provided for free, in collaboration with Rotary Eye Hospitals, with patients only bearing the travelling expenses.

Till date, we have treated 30 million patients at our healthcare centres and our mission is to improve the lives of many more.

    OUTREACH PROGRAMME

While our healthcare centres has been focusing on curative care, our outreach programme addresses the need for preventative care.

With trained ‘Rural Healthcare Assistants’ (RHAs), we have started conducting door-to-door tests and screenings for early detection NDCs, vision problems, eye disorders and malnutrition among the rural communities. We are also exploring early breast, oral and cervical cancer detection among the rural poor.

    CRISIS RESPONSE AND rELIEF

Our core activities are centered around healthcare but, considering the needs of the communities we also engage in relief programmes. We have provided food and essentials to the under-served communities affected by COVID-19 lockdowns, cyclone Amphan and cyclone Yaas. We have conducted medical camps across Sundarbans after cyclones, Bulbul, Amphan and Yaas. We had actively provided oxygen concentrators to patients in home isolation during the 2nd wave of the pandemic. We conducted vaccination drives in rural Bengal.
